Yummy Diet: A Review

If you guys are following me on Instagram, you would have probably noticed that I’ve been trying some of the diet delivery services. The first one that I’ve tried was that of Yummy Diet. I’m actually not new to the whole diet delivery thing. The first one that I tried was that of Fitness Gourmet. I wrote about it last year.  From what I remembered, the food was fine but then what I didn’t like were the snacks. I didn’t like them because it said “surprise” and I’m really not fond of not knowing what I was eating. 😛

But then again this year, since one of my main goals this year is to really be fit and lose all of that excess weight, I really need help in the diet part. Last 2012, when I had the same goal of trying to lose weight, I did it all by myself. I followed the Cohen Diet which I got a hold of a copy from a friend who enrolled in the program. I enrolled our help at 25 Mushrooms Kitchen, wherein they hold classes and teach helpers to cook some Cohen Meals and then I asked our help to cook for me. (Yes, I do not have the time to prepare my meals – I work. :P)

But after years of dieting, I got sick of the food and then the “cheats” started creeping and I wasn’t able to get back to the whole diet because I’m so sick and tired of the taste of the food. And that’s when I realized why not shake things up a bit and then order from different diet delivery service and then try each and every one of them. Compare and contrast. And decide what is the best one. So basically, that’s my quest this year.

My initial quest actually was to try all of the juice detoxification companies but then I realized, I think I have to lose weight first before detoxifying so here I am on my journey to weight lose and hopefully to a permanent one already.

So the weeks of January 26 – February 6, was the Yummy Diet weeks for me.

1 - Yummy Diet

The cool thing about Yummy Diet is that they give you utensils (spoon and fork) every start of the week, 5 pieces of instant coffee and 5 pieces of hot tea. Each day, you will have 3 meals with 2 snacks.

2 - Daing na Bangus

The food was pretty yummy (really). This was Daing na Bangus for breakfast. The amount was okay. But you have to see, believe it or not, I don’t really eat that much. I think I just eat a lot of junk food. Hehe. 😛

3 - Sample Snack

This is a sample snack. The thing is though, the snack that they usually give are fruits. Which is a GOOD thing. Although it was a bit of a struggle for me because I am really not a fruit-eating person. I know that, THAT’s bad but then I don’t know why I just don’t. The good thing though about this is that I am able to train myself to eat more fruits.

Actually during that time, when I was hungry, I would eat more fruits and I didn’t even gain weight. Oh by the way, I forgot to tell you that I ordered 1,200 calories per day.

4 - Sample LUnch

This is a sample lunch. Yes, it might look sad because it’s a salad but it’s actually not. And really, this helped me a lot because during those weeks (well, until now) I was soo busy with things that I didn’t really notice the food that I was eating.

5 - Sample Day 2

Also, everyday, I would get this piece of paper indicating all of the things that I was going to eat for the day. Which is pretty helpful because forgetful me, will really not pay attention and might eat the wrong thing for the wrong meal. And thank God for Instagram, I am able to look back at what I need to it. See folks. That’s the reason why I actually take a picture of these things so that I won’t forget. 😛

My take on Yummy Diet?

What I liked about Yummy Diet is that they deliver the day before. I actually find it a hassle if the delivery service delivers on the day itself. Maybe it’s the OC part of me that wants everything prepared beforehand, I don’t know. But it just seems safer when I know that my food for the next day is there already.

At PHP 1,800 for 5 days for the 1,200 calories per day meal, I would say that this is pretty sulit. So far for the 2 weeks that I’ve ordered from them I cannot remember a meal that I didn’t like.

And the fact that they have BPI bank deposit which is totally convenient for me because I can just do bank transfer.

Since it’s the first diet service that I’ve used, I lost a total of 3.2 lbs which is pretty great!

So wish me luck folks on my next adventures. So far, I’m not happy how it’s turning out but I’ll just keep at it. I think temptation is getting the better of me. Hassle. But well, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Fitness Gourmet Experience

Hello, Guys!

I’m kind of back. Well, you see, my Outlook is still hanging. And because I’m such a multi-tasker, I decided to write a quick something about my Fitness Gourmet experience last week.

I actually have already tried to experience ordering food from different diet delivery services. I think the last one that I did was back in 2009 when I was preparing for the wedding of my sister. During that time, I think I ordered from Healthy Cravings. That time, it was already the cheaper alternative at PHP 700 per day as compared to Sexy Chef which was at around PHP 900 – PHP 1,000 per day.

But since then, a lot of other similar companies have sprung up and one of which was Fitness Gourmet.

I have already seen Fitness Gourmet over at Instagram, wherein various celebrities would actually post about it. From that time on, I have always been interested in ordering but never got the chance. Why? Either I was low on budget. Or, I splurged on something else. (Yes, the story of my life.)

Luckily though, during the event of my sister, for The Steps Project at UP, I was fortunate enough to be one of the winners of the free 5-day trial of Fitness Gourmet. Unfortunately for me though, I wasn’t able to start right away because they deliver Mondays – Fridays and that Friday, I was leaving for Bacolod. So, sayang lang cause I’m going to be bingeing naman in Bacold. TEEHEE! 😛

That was the reason why I started last Monday, June 2, 2014. Which is great because it’s the start of the month.

The Menu

Fitness Gourmet Menu

The menu for the week was posted on Instagram. So better follow them and better that you actually have Instagram. (@fitnessgourmetph) The food that you will be getting will have no labels so better to refer back to their Instagram account or take a screen capture already as your guide.

I wasn’t able to take a picture of all of the food because there were times when I was too hungry to even take a picture. Haha. 🙂

Day 1 Breakfast

Day 1 Breakfast – Grilled Veggie Sandwich. This was actually pretty yummy!

Day 1 Lunch Day 1 Lunch – Mild Spiced Chicken Rice Salad Stuffed in Tomato. This was pretty yummy, too.Day 1 Snack

Day 1 – Surprise Snack. Jelly?

Just a note on the surprise snack. Although yes, I do like their snacks, I find it frustrating that I don’t know what is being served to me. I’m not one to eat something that I actually don’t know what’s in it. So I’m usually a bit hesitant on this. Although this was okay. There were just others that weren’t that okay. So I think it’s a hit and miss thing.

Day 2

Day 2 Breakfast Day 2 Breakfast. I loved this. Who eats pizza during breakfast?! ME! 🙂Day 2 Lunch Day 2 Lunch: Yummy. Just like Caldereta! 🙂Day 2 Snack

Day 2: Loved this, too. Faux Blueberry Cheesecake. 🙂Day 2 Dinner Day 2 Dinner. Was okay. 🙂 Didn’t make soo much of an impact on me. 😛

Day 3:

Day 3 Breakfast

Day 3 Breakfast. I liked this, too. Although it just felt weird eating egg with rice. I usually eat rice with ulam and egg. But then again, this is why it’s called a diet, right? 😛
Day 3 Lunch

Day 3 Lunch. This one I LOVED, too. It has been such a LOOONG time since I had pasta. I used to love pasta but then since it’s carbs, I really stay away. 🙂Day 3 DinnerDay 3 Dinner. This was good, too.

Day 4

Day 4 Breakfast

Day 4 Breakfast was pretty good.Day 4 Lunch

Day 4 Lunch is LOVE. Pasta again for the WIN! 🙂

I didn’t take the picture of my Day 4 dinner because I had dinner out. 😛 So fine, daya na sya and sira na my diet! 🙂

Day 5:

Day 5 Breakfast

Day 5 Breakfast was the meal that I took for Day 5. I think I was pretty pre-occupied that Friday. 😛 This was good, too.

So, how did I find Fitness Gourmet Over All?

It was pretty good. Especially at PHP 1800 for 5 days. I think it’s already pretty sulit. Imagine, if you go to work, you would probably be spending the same amount on food anyway. So go with the healthier alternative right?

Did I lose weight?

I think I did, a pound or two. I couldn’t really say because as I said on Day 4, I had to have dinner out. And this is just life, you know. There are some times when you can’t really tell what your schedule is. Things just keep on popping up here and there.

Will I purchase?

Yes, most definitely. For as long as I have the money and the commitment to really go on a diet (na talaga!). Which I have to ALREADY. Note to self: BE SERIOUS about this.

2nd day of 2014

It’s the 2nd day of 2014. How did you spend it? 🙂 As for me, this has always been an important day of our lives because it’s the death anniversary of my Mama (my lola). But aside from that, I’m grateful that I’m sill on a holiday.

Got up today and started the day right by going to the gym. 40 minutes on the treadmill and 57minutes on the stepper while listening to Tiesto’s Podcast – Part 2 of the Best of 2013.

Among my favorites of last year’s tracks are the following:

Avicii and Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One

Passion Pit – Carried Away

Ellie Goulding ft. Calvin Harris – I Need Your Love

Zedd ft. Foxes – Clarity

All of these songs made me remember some of the things that happened to me in the past year. Yes, songs have that effect on me. Makes me wonder, what would be the songs of this year? 😉

After the workout and the reminiscing, I was ready to go back home. Had lunch at home which was totally not diet food and slept. 🙁 Yep, my life during the break was eat-sleep-eat-sleep-repeat. But it’s okay. It’s a welcome break from wake up-work-go home-check emails-sleep-repeat. The only concern that I have right now is… will I be able to get up early for work on the 6th? And how fast would I be able to get back on track to working again?

Aside from that I also got something that I ordered from Taste Central 4 days ago.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

This is still pretty fast for Taste Central given that they already had a break! 🙂

Oh and another thing that I saw over the internet today was the list of the holidays for this year! 🙂

2014 Holidays
2014 Holidays

So, as early as now, you can already plan your vacations! Which I will do when I get to work on January 6. 🙂

2014-02-01 Snippets
2014-02-01 Snippets

These are the other snippets of my day.

1.) Lower left – I dropped by Sarabia Optical today and I saw my most coveted sunnies on display. Oh I LOVE <3 them. It’s just that it’s a WANT and not a need. And this year, I’m practicing frugality.

2.) Upper right – had dinner at Franco’s. (note: cannot find any reviews on this yet.) It’s the restaurant that took the place of Myron’s at the Powerplant Mall but it basically has more or less the same menu. I ordered the grilled salmon which was pretty good.

3.) Upper left – My grandaunt bought some Cupcakes from Sonja’s. Tried this new flavor (which name I forgot). It’s yummy but it tastes like buttercake with frosting and costs PHP 135 :O which was a shocker to my granduncle. Oh funny, granduncle.

Basically, my 2014 has been great, what about yours? How has the past 2 days been treating you?

Wine and Dine at Crimson Hotel’s Café Eight

What’s your idea of a vacation? As for me, one of the things that I’ve always dreamt about was to stay in a hotel here in Manila and just sleep. Yes, I’m lazy like that. Staycation – yes, that’s what they call that. I guess it was popularized because of the fact that when you also go on a vacation – you also get tired. You get tired because of all the planning, packing, flying, walking and unpacking. But of course, I still have to admit that going on a vacation somewhere else is the best – new places to see and new experiences to have. But sometimes, you just need a quick getaway to step out of your daily grind and experience something different.

I personally haven’t been to Crimson Hotel at Filinvest but I think it’s quite enticing. The fact that it’s away from everything that is familiar to me. Check out the press release below about Café Eight’s offer for October. 😉

Cafe EightGive in to your cravings with Crimson Hotel Filinvest City, Manila’s finest food roster this month of October. Take delight in a beautifully themed Brazilian Churrasco lunch or dinner at the hotel’s restaurant – Café Eight. Diners can enjoy skewered grilled food and waiters going table to table to slice meat into their plates. Experience this food offering at Php 1,250++ per head from October 16 to October 25.

Then don’t miss out on other gastronomic fillers starting with the barbecue chows every Friday and Saturday nights at The Deck Bar from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM for only Php 850++ per head. While Halloween sweets such as Crimson’s cake of the month – the Pear Caramel Cake, is available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM at the Pastry and Sandwich Corner. And if you’re looking for something different, Crimson also prepared a concoction that will surely hit the spot. Termed as the Bear Drinks, this blend of sweet and tangy will surely add zest to your staycation.

The month also promises excellent wine and dine experience at The Lobby Lounge as it introduces Wine and Jazz – a fusion of jazz music, food and crisp wine selections. Enjoy a “Buy One Get One” on wine by glass at Php 250++ and by bottle at Php 1,600++.

Jab Lang Ng Jab: My Juice Jab Experience

Hello, Guys! It feels like it has been such a LONG time since I wrote here. With everything that has been going on in my life – at work specifically. Been soo busy and had soo many issues and hence, backlogs. But here I am again, looking forward to the weekend. YAY for the freakin’ weekend!

As I write this, I have already finished 2 rounds of my Juice Jab experience. The first one that I did was last September 1-3 and the second was September 18-19. The first one that I did was actually a Strong Jab. (Yes, yabang ko eh, no?) I figured out that since I really didn’t eat that much, I would be able to handle this. Haha. But. Hell no! This was different.

The Strong Jab.

The Strong Jab requires replacing 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), with 2 juice bottles per meal, for 3 consecutive days.

Because I’m really not a rules girl, I drink one bottle every three hours – so that would be one at breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and after dinner snack.

So that’s a total of 18 bottle consumed in 3 days.

As it says on the website, the Strong Jab is for those who are ready to do a full cleans, letting go of all solid food. It gives the digestive system an almost complete rest, which allows the body to direct its energy in cleansing and knocking out deeply seated toxins.

The following Single Jabs make up the Strong Jab:

  • Gold Strike

Made out of Cayenne, Honey, Lemon, Water. I am quite familiar with the taste of this because of my Juice Barista Experience. It is similar to the Tango in the Mango taste. The only difference is that thsis makes use of Lemon and Water. I’m also quite familiar with this because of having read the Master Cleans over and over.

Juice Jab 1 - Gold StrikeThis one I really liked. It’s like drinking spicy lemonade. And I’ve figured that I’m more into fruit juices than veggies.

  • Emerald Punch

Made out of Celery, Ginger, Pineapple, Spinach.  This one, I didn’t like so much. I guess it’s because of the fact that it’s made out of Celery. And I’m not very fond of Celery to begin with.

Juice Jab 2 - Emerald Punch

  • Ruby Hook

Made out of Beet, Carrot, Cucumber. This one was okay, even if it’s just all veggies. So I think it’s just really the fact that I don’t like Celery.

Juice Jab 3 - Ruby Hook

  • Topaz Swing

Made out of Apple, Cucumber, Melon. This was okay as well. No complaints there.

Juice Jab 4 - Topaz Swing

  • Amber Power

Made out of Apple, Carrot, Ginger. Okay as well.

Juce Jab 5 - Amber Power

  • Jade Jab

Made out of Celery, Cucumber. Struggle again!

Juice Jab 6 - Emerald Punch

My overall experience from the jab was okay. It was hard – I won’t lie about that. I really thought I could hack 3 days of not eating but to my utter disappointment in myself, I wasn’t really able to be strictly on that. But there are many factors that affected that.

  • I did not stay away from salty, sweet and oily food as well as carbonated and caffeinated drinks
  • I wasn’t able to take a good night’s sleep because of all of the stress.
  • I made “daya” a lot. Haha. Okay, that’s my fault.
  • I didn’t skip excess activities nor did I rest because I couldn’t really rest because of work

If you asked me if I did lose weight, unfortunately, I did not. BUT, I still would recommend it NOT for losing weight but for giving your tummy a break. Yes, we all very much need that. Probably just before the Holidays or after. AFTER the Holidays would be GREAT.

My first experience with Juice Jab did not stop me from trying it out again. They had a deal with Deal Grocer. When they (Juice Jab), offered a deal for 2 Mild Jabs, I took it again. Hehe. 2 Mild Jabs for 2 persons DAPAT but again me, not following instructions, I took them both for 2 days.

The Mild Jab.

Requires replacing 1 meal a day (ideally breakfast) with 2 juice bottles, for 3 consecutive days. The rest of the meals are restricted to eating solid fruits and vegetables.

Which I obviously did not follow. TEEHEE. PEACE.

The following Single Jabs Make Up the Mild Jab:

  • Emerald Punch
  • Amber Power

Wonder of wonders though. Even if Emerald Punch was made out of Celery, it didn’t taste as bad as it did the first time. Which is great. I was thinking probably it’s because I was getting used to the taste? OR, there’s already taste recall? OR, my palette has been cleansed – which would be great because it means that little by little I’m removing my craving for salty and sweet food? YES! That would be a miracle of that would happen. But this time around, it was not that difficult anymore.

So probably… jab lang ng jab? Practice makes perfect. Haha.

Would I order again?

Yes, definitely I would. Probably not now though, probably next month or let’s see. I was originally planning to do a detox once a month. But of course there are a lot of factors to take into consideration.

Cost.

  • Mild Jab – PHP 1700 (next order PHP1500)
  • Moderate – PHP 3200 (next order PHP3000)
  • Strong – PHP 4700 (next order PHP4500)

Disposition.

Shouldn’t be stressed. Should be able to rest properly and have a good night’s sleep. So best if you take it when you are on a vacation. Or not that stressed out (too many activities) for work.

But, yes, I would definitely order again.

What about you? Have you tried Juice Jab? Let me know your experience!
