Fashion Fruit: The Recessionista’s Haven
It has been common knowledge that we in the Philippines also felt the effects of the recession that happened in the United States a couple of years ago. It’s probably because our economies are tightly knitted together and a LOT if booming industries here in the Philippines, i.e. outsourcing, is very dependent on the US [...]
Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011: Part 2
Next up is Island Girl Accessories. It’s such as small, small world. We, my sister and I, found out that the one who owns Island Girl Accessories is actually a friend of my sister from college, Jan. According to her, they have this business for quite some time already but they just primarily sold in Boracay. Now, they want to boost the market and make it known to people that materials here in the Philippines can be made into such beautiful accessories. Check out their site here: http://islandgirlph.com/.

Here’s a closer look on the stuff that they had during the bazaar.

Erzulie. My dear girls who have always believed the whatever size or shape you are, you’re still bautiful. Beautiful people with good hearts. This is probably why you’re soo blessed with a booming business and a fashion show at that! If you’re interested to come, check out this event here. For more information about Erzullie, check out this link.

Jewelled Bags. It’s not everyday that we go to formal events and make “porma” to the nines. But when that day comes, I have to admit that one thing that I really scramble on and look for is a nice bag that would definitely fit my outfit OR MAKE the outfit. So, it’s a good idea to stock up on nice evening bags – jeweled at that. Check out this link and be enticed! Yes, it’s a bit expensive but if you want to make a statement – who cares about the price?
Jewelled Bags
Bags In The City. I have a confession to make. Whenever we would go to the vet before (Vet in Practice – during the time when they were still in their old spot), I’d always drop by the shop of Bags in the City. I didn’t get anything but I just LOVED looking at their stuff. There were soo many different kinds of bags in soo many different colors that it would make it difficult for me to pick one. I wanted everything. Also, they have little pouches that you can give away for Christmas. Check out their site here.

WHAT_IF Products by Ti&Me Co. These cubes which I first saw at this bazaar can be used for anything. You can use them for games, learning stuff, door stoppers or neck support. They’re cute and they’re unique. It’s a nice-to-have thing and something that you can give as a gift. Check out their site here.
What If
YourUnik Xchange. The exploding box is the new greeting card. Well, that would be in my book. If you’re the lovey-dovey person and you like giving creative gifts to your special someone, well, I would DEFINITELY recommend this. When you give it, it’s just a box tied with a ribbon. When you open it, there are a lot of different papers where you can place a lot of pictures or any other materials that you can place. In the middle there could be something that would capture the whole idea of the box.

Farah Abu Accessories. My favorite accessory-maker is still making waves. What more can I say! J Check out this link to know where she will be next.

DAS (warning: these shoes can kill!). Oh, definitely. Fall down, break or leg or neck but still have the shoes that everyone in the room would kill for. Unfortunately, it’s you. I envy those girls who can walk in high-heels. Can anyone send me a link of a seminar where I would learn how to walk on these kinds of shoes?

Global Pinoy Bazaar 2011
Last weekend (November 5-6, 2011), the Global Pinoy Bazaar for 2011 was held at the Rockwell Tent. Since it’s bazaar season once again, I took time out to go around and check out the items.
For the first stop, of course is my sister’s booth – Hot Young Designers. This is actually the first ever bazaar that they have ever joined and I’d like to personally congratulate them for doing such a great job! :)
For those of you guys who weren’t able to go, you should drop by St. James Bazaar on November 26-30 since they will also be there. Or, you can just also order online. Check out their website.
Next stop would be Fab Manila’s store. I love Fab Manila’s stuff. There was one Christmas when I ordered around PHP5,000 worth of items to give as gifts for friends. Funny how the world is soo small that they turned out to be friends with my brother-in-law’s sister, Ate Nina of Manila Mommy.
I love their prints and the items that they have. ;)

Next stop: Mallos. I’ve heard of Mallos years ago when they just started, I believe. I’ve seen them at Eastwood and at other bazaars as well. The first products that they pushed before where scented flip-flops. Now, they branched out to different things as well. Currently, they are selling scented bags, pouches, etc. I’ll try to write more about them when I get the time. Got to contact them first. ;)

These wired cuffs from Crafting Time! are absolutely awesome. They are just not the normal wired cuffs. They designs are actually made of clay that you the artist/creator should create.
Yuki Tore
I love stud earrings! :) Check out these stud earrings from Anu-Anu.

The next picture – handmade rings are from the Junk Studio. I actually first saw them at Backstage in Serendra. These are pretty good gifts to your arts fartsy friends.

Vote for the Next Faces of David & Goliath and Win Awesome Prizes!
David & Goliath, the US clothing brand known for its fun, witty statement tees, has announced the 20 finalists who have the chance in becoming its Philippine brand ambassadors.
David and Goliath PR
After signing up in the brand’s official Facebook page and submitting photos, ten chicks and ten dudes were picked and will advance to the next round of competition. The panel of judges who selected the best photo entries was composed of David & Goliath Philippines Managing Director Anne Gonzalez, Marketing Head Ammiel de Leon and Netbooster Asia Art Director Aaron Asis.
Top 10 Dudes
“All of the photo entries were great”, said Gonzalez. “We are very happy with the 20 who made it to the cut. Each of them was able to exude the personality of David & Goliath in their photos.” The entries were judged based on creativity, presentation and possession of David & Goliath’s personalities – being fun, witty and young.
Top 10 Chicks
The 20 finalists are a mix of students and young professionals. The 10 dudes are composed of students of multimedia arts, filmmaking, entrepreneurship and culinary arts, engineering and nursing graduates, a senior high school student, a teacher, a medical researcher, and a game developer. On the other hand, the 10 chicks are made up of students of accountancy, biology, communications, marketing and linguistics and human resource and marketing professionals and an online tutor.
These 20 aspiring contestants will record a video that will be uploaded in the brand’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/davidandgoliathphilippines) for public voting. A distinguished panel of judges, composed of David & Goliath founder Todd Goldman, David & Goliath US marketing director Dean Martin, executive vice-president Billy Blu, Chalk Magazine editor-in-chief Nana Caragay, radio jock and TV personality Sam YG, and comedian Tim Tayag, will also help in selecting the three chicks and three dudes who will be newest faces of David & Goliath.
The public can vote in two ways – in-store and online. For every single-receipt purchase worth P 995, a customer can vote for one chick and one dude. Voting online is also possible via an application in Facebook in the brand’s Facebook page. Every in-store vote corresponds to 10 points and every online vote gives the contestant one point. For every vote submitted, one also has a chance to win P 1000 gift certificates from David & Goliath and pair of flip-flops from Havaianas in the raffle draw. Voting will run from September 14 to October 9.
The six winners will be rewarded with over half a million pesos worth of prizes that include a year supply of David & Goliath merchandise, products from Havaianas, personality development training programs from John Robert Powers, and pizza party packages from Yellow Cab Pizza. They will also grace the cover of Chalk Magazine, one of the country’s leading magazines.
For more information, drop by David & Goliath at Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 5 or TriNoma or log on to http://www.facebook.com/davidandgoliathphilippines.
