The Birth of Group Buying Sites
Before I left the Philippines in February, the emergence of Group Buying sites in the Philippines came about. Little did I know that come May, it would have already taken the Philippines by storm.
My friend and my sister got a super great deal for Bella Rocca – one of nicest resorts that we have here in the Philippines. I personally bought 4 deals for Mr. Kurosawa that only cost PHP250 each but would have a value of PHP500. Such a great deal. Who knew shopping was going to be this much fun over the internet?
Over the past few months, I have been receiving emails from some of these group buying sites to have them featured here in Manila Shopaholic to gain more popularity. And I personally am more than happy to do them this favor.
One of these sites that I would be featuring now is dealies.ph.
When you look into their site, it pretty much looks the same. This is good because at least people won’t have a hard time navigating through their numerous deals.
Apparently, “as of 02 May 2011 there are at least 39 group buying sites servicing the bargain hungry populace” – as stated by Dealies.ph. So how would this site be different from all of these other sites? Well, pure genius. They gather all of the deals from all of these other sites such as Groupon Beeconomic, MetroDeal, Ensogo, Yugadeals, BUYanihan, cheApipAy, DealsTent, etc., and put all of the deals into this one site. This makes it a one-stop-shop group buying site.
Another great thing about Dealies is that they blog about what’s popular each week.
This would very much help people know what’s in and what’s hot.
An interesting fact about Dealies.ph is that it actually doesn’t operate here in the Philippines but it operates remotely from somewhere in Germany. It’s pretty interesting to know that someone from Europe would actually focus on the Philippines. It’s either we’re one of the emerging markets for group buying or we’re all just bargain-hunting-shopping freaks.
